Civil Defence Memorial Sirens – July 15 and 20
The Cyprus Civil Defence has announced that the memorial warning sirens will be activated across all areas under the control of the Republic of Cyprus to mark the anniversaries of the events of 1974.
The sirens will sound at the following times:
- 15 July at 8:20 a.m. – Anniversary of the coup d’état.
- 20 July at 5:30 a.m. – Anniversary of the beginning of the Turkish invasion.
The activation of the sirens is not an emergency alert. It is a symbolic act of remembrance to honour those who lost their lives, those who went missing, those who were displaced, and all those affected by the events of 1974.
Residents are encouraged to be aware of these scheduled sirens to avoid unnecessary concern.
