Important Update on Housing Allowance for Asylum Seekers
As of 1 June 2026, housing allowances will no longer be granted for properties accommodating asylum seekers if they do not have a Final Approved Building Permit (“Άδεια Τελική Έγκριση”).
This permit confirms that the building has been completed in accordance with the approved construction plans and all relevant regulations.
Landlords renting accommodation to asylum seekers are therefore strongly advised to submit a copy of the Final Approved Building Permit to their local Social Welfare Office as soon as possible. If the permit has not yet been issued, landlords should provide evidence that an application is currently pending.
Failure to provide the required documentation may result in the termination of housing allowance payments.
