CY-Alert Nationwide Test Scheduled for Monday
People across Cyprus may receive a test notification on their mobile phones on Monday as part of a nationwide exercise of the new CY-Alert emergency warning system.
The test will take place between 2:30pm and 3:30pm and will simulate a missing person and kidnapping scenario. Messages will be clearly marked as a test, and no action will be required from the public.
The exercise is the final stage of a testing programme launched after CY-Alert became operational on June 2. Unlike previous tests, the nationwide simulation will not include the system’s warning sound.
CY-Alert is designed to provide real-time emergency information directly to mobile devices, helping authorities communicate quickly with people in affected areas during crises. Residents are encouraged to ensure that emergency alerts are enabled on their phones so they can receive future notifications when needed.
