Sickness Benefits : What You Need to Know

If you worked but fell sick and had to take time off work, you are entitled to a Sickness Benefit that covers the period of your inability to work.  

You must apply within 21 days of your absence from work due to sickness. 

You will require:
– your IBAN
– sick leave from the doctor
– if you are applying 21 days after your sickness started, you will need to provide justification. 

You need to complete the Application for Sickness Benefits

• The application must be submitted via CY Login www.gov.cy
• Asylum seekers who do not have access to CY Login submit the paper application (here) to Social Insurance office, accompanied by the required documents. The paper application will need to be signed by the employer as well.
