Carnival, Culture and Community: What’s Happening Around Cyprus This Weekend
Carnival season is in full swing across Cyprus, offering vibrant celebrations, cultural experiences and activities for everyone. Whether you’re looking for family-friendly fun, live music, artistic events or storytelling through cinema, this weekend has plenty to offer.
🎭 Carnival Festivities Across the Island
Parades and fiestas will bring towns and cities to life as part of Cyprus’ lively carnival tradition. In Paphos on Saturday, colourful floats, marching bands and performers will fill Griva Digeni Avenue. Later in the evening, Paralimni will host its own Carnival Evening Parade, followed by music, food and entertainment in the central square. The main parade continues on Sunday with DJs and a festive party atmosphere for all ages.
In Ayia Napa, families can enjoy a creative carnival event with Brazilian dancers, percussion bands, DJs and acrobatics at the marina, while Limassol gets into full swing with its famed Sunday Carnival Parade — one of the biggest celebrations on the island, complete with orchestras, majorettes and percussion groups.
🎶 Live Music and Performances
Music lovers are in for a treat: a popular Queen tribute band from Hungary, Don’t Stop the Queen, makes its Cyprus debut with shows in Larnaca and Limassol this Friday and Saturday. Expect powerful renditions of classic hits that take you back to the height of rock glory.
On Sunday night at Limassol Music Hall, acclaimed vocalist Natalia Borodulinaa and an international blues band will pay homage to the legendary singer Beth Hart with soulful blues-rock and jazz-inspired performances.
Music and creative expression continue with the Cyprus Symphony Orchestra’s Premiere 4 concert in Larnaca on Friday evening, featuring compositions by Cypriot artists alongside classical works.
🎨 Art, Cinema and Community Events
For those who enjoy community engagement and artistic expression, there’s a range of options across the capital. Openest MIC XXII brings talent to the stage at Yalla Collective Space in Nicosia, welcoming performers of all kinds — from spoken word to music and theatre — under the theme of Bread and Sites.
Local arts enthusiasts can also explore the works of celebrated Cypriot artist George Kotsonis in his new exhibition at Gloria Gallery, running through March 10.
Creativity meets community with a graffiti and stencil workshop at the Centre for Social Innovation — a free, interactive session encouraging expression through street art as part of the @Nclusion initiative.
Film fans shouldn’t miss the first edition of CyFi Fest, a genre film festival at Pantheon Cinema featuring sci-fi, fantasy, horror and fan films across three days.
Whether you’re joining a traditional parade, discovering live music or taking part in arts and culture, this weekend showcases the diversity and community spirit that make Cyprus such a vibrant place to live and visit.
