“Myths of Cyprus”: A Journey into the Island’s Living Legends

On 22 December 2025, the Director of the Press and Information Office (GTP), Ms Aliki Stylianou, presented the GTP’s new multi-thematic exhibition entitled “Myths of Cyprus” at the Medieval Hall of Kasteliotissa in Nicosia.

The exhibition brings to life some of the most well-known mythical figures of Cypriot folk tradition, including Digenis, Serolotta, Kalikantzaros, Regina, and other legendary forms deeply rooted in the island’s cultural heritage. Through carefully designed constructions, 3D models, and the use of virtual reality, visitors are invited to encounter these myths in an immersive and engaging way, experiencing them up close rather than as distant stories of the past.

“Myths of Cyprus” was created out of a deep need to preserve, highlight, and share Cyprus’s cultural heritage. Myths and traditions are not merely tales handed down through history; they are living narratives that connect generations, reflect the values of a people, and form an essential part of cultural identity. By presenting these stories through modern technology, the exhibition creates a bridge between tradition and contemporary experience.
