Recycling in Cyprus: What to Put in the Transparent PMD Bag? ♻️
In Cyprus, recycling is an important part of the effort to protect the environment and reduce the amount of waste ending up in landfills. The system set up by Green Dot Cyprus makes it easy for every household to participate through the use of transparent bags for PMD materials (Plastic, Metal, Drinking cartons).
But what exactly do these letters mean, and what should go inside the bag?
P = Plastic
This includes bottles and plastic containers such as:
- water and soft drink bottles
- yogurt pots and butter tubs
- detergent and cleaning product bottles
M = Metal
All cans and metallic packaging, for example:
- soda or beer cans
- food tins
- metallic food packaging
D = Drinking cartons (Tetra Pak)
Packaging such as juice, milk, or tomato puree cartons, often known as Tetra Pak.
Once waste is placed correctly in the transparent PMD bag, it is collected by the municipal recycling service and sent for processing.
👉 Tip: Only empty, clean, and flattened packaging should be placed in the PMD bag. This makes sorting easier and improves the efficiency of the recycling process.
By following these simple steps, each of us contributes to reducing our environmental footprint and building a more sustainable future for Cyprus.
Do your part for the planet: sort your waste and use the transparent PMD bag! 🌍💚
