New procedure for SW emergency money in Nicosia

Important: This post applies only to International Protection Holders / EU nationals

Social Welfare in Nicosia have designed a new procedure for applying for and receiving emergency money. 

Procedure:

  • Once you have a need for emergency support, you submit a completed application A11 (download here) with supporting documents to SW Lakatamia office. You don’t need an appointment. 
  • Upon submission of the application, you will be given a receipt. 
  • If you qualify for support, within a week you will receive a phone call with an appointment for collection of money. 
  • You will need to present your original ID documents in order to receive money. 
  • Three weeks after receiving the support, if you are still in need of financial support, you need to submit another A11 application and the cycle repeats itself. 

Supporting documents required: 

  • Copies of ID document of all members of the family
  • Copies of birth certificates of children (if applicable)
  • Valid labour cards of all adult members of the family if they are not working
  • A copy of the contract of employment, pay slip and Social Insurance statement for the members of the family who work
  • Bank statements for the past 6 months for all members of the family
  • Copy of the contract of rent  
  • Copy of a receipt of the rent payment

Note: If you require support for rent, you need to complete an additional A11 application just for rent and you need to attach  a copy of a receipt from the last rent payment.
