Welcome to the Caritas Community Center, aka the Migrant Center
For years you’ve known us as the Migrant Center, but we’re rebranding and remaking our Caritas Community Center so there’s no confusion — we are here to serve all who need us.
The Caritas Community Center—hosted in St. Anthony Hall next to the historic Holy Cross church in the Paphos Gate area of Nicosia—is at the center of our work. Here, we seek to create a free and safe space to access information, humanitarian aid and support; to learn skills and gain familiarity with new surroundings; and to socialize and have fun.
Check the Center’s weekly schedule for information on how to reach us, make an appointment and see what’s on each day! You are welcome to drop in if we’re free, but we don’t promise that we will be able to serve you or even answer the door. 😁😮 Make an appointment to be sure our doors are open and we have a person dedicated to assist you! If you’re outside Nicosia, call us during our Help Line hours and we’ll try to guide you by phone.
Case workers and volunteer interns provide information, help you complete forms, and guide you through government processes at offices that provide medical care, social services, asylum services, and labor services among others. We can also help you when things go wrong. 🤷♂️🤷♀️ But first, we will always try to help you solve the problem yourself. Like you, our goal is for you to thrive in Cyprus independently.
Thanks to the kindness of our donors, we are able to provide all types of humanitarian assistance. 👚👟🍽️ 🍛🍼 Lightly used shoes and clothing, as well as household goods, are provided when available to anyone in need. We also give food and additional baby goods to those who are in dire circumstances. Because our resources are limited, we do enforce strict criteria and thank you for your understanding. To be clear — we never discriminate based on race, religion, gender, or national origin.
We offer a wide range of group lessons, including English and Greek, whenever we have volunteers available. 🏫🎒🚸In addition we offer small group sessions on topics such as Job Readiness, Navigating Cyprus with Your Phone, and Setting Up an Email Account.
Every Wednesday afternoon we offer a dedicated Social Hour (no work allowed! 😎) where you can join us to play games and chat. Some Wednesday’s we have special features. This summer, for example, we hosted a Summer Camp for children, and hosted Caravan for Humanity’s clowns. These activities provide a great way to meet people and find your footing in Nicosia.
